Recognize your personal skin characteristic
and choose a program that suits
your current needs:
Note:
Skin Characteristics change.
Do not assume what you are today
will be the same forever. Compare
these various characteristics
to what you see today.
Recheck your skin with each
season and adjust your skin
care system to suit current
skin characteristics.
Your
skin is the first line of defense
against infection, treat it
seriously!
Dry
Skin Characteristics
Most commonly
known as normal to combination.
Fine lines in the hollows of the
cheek, a dull finish to the skin
and a general feeling of tightness
especially when not using a good
skin care program are common characteristics
of a dry skin; an oily T-zone
is a common characteristic of all
skins, it is not an indication that
all of your skin is oily.
Sensitive
Skin Characteristics
The skin may
be dry, oily or combination. The
skin appears thin, transparent and
blushes easily. Frequent rashes
occur. When you are under
stress, illness or new medications
your skin can exhibit
sensitive inflamed characteristics.
Sensitivity
is a negative, topical reaction
to exterior stimulus. This reaction
can be caused by sun, chemicals,
wind, environmental pollutants and
can cause skin to react negatively
to natural or botanical ingredients.
Dehydrated Skin
Sensitive to wind and beauty
products. A transparent pink skin
with a dry surface.
Surface Tension: To remove
water from the tissue leaving
it dull, inflamed, rough and
flaky. Dehydrated tissue without
proper care can crack and bleed.
Oily Skin Characteristics
Large pores over the entire face
and skin is uncomfortably moist
within a couple of hours after cleansing.
The skin is thick, sallow and rough
textured.
Acne Skin Characteristics
Most simply Acne is a hair follicle
or pore that has become clogged
with sebum. (Oil forms beneath the
dermis) dead skin cells, and bacteria
forms and skin becomes inflamed,
bacteria increases and the acne
spreads. Acne can be triggered by
many things from the environment
to hormone changes, to drugs and
some cosmetic products, as well
as diet. Acne has three characteristics:
- Excess oil
- Inflammation
- Multiplying bacteria.
Blemished Skin Characteristics
A blemish is an infection at the
surface of the skin. The cells in
an attempt to protect the infection,
develop a dome. The dome is a protection
for the infected and inflamed area
and is the only thing you see. When
the dome is squeezed or dried out
the infection spreads and another
dome appears. Pimples or blemishes
are often a sign of topical sensitivity.
Excessively Dry Skin Characteristics
Paper thin and tight. A red blotchy
skin color with patches of flakiness
and cracking over the face.
Excessively Oily Skin Characteristics
An over-production of oil at
any age is caused by an over stimulated
oil gland. Hormone therapy, sun,
improper diet and an improper and
aggressive cleansing routine can
aggravate and dry out the surface
skin and stimulate your oil glands.
Skin is oily all day, all over the
face. (skin is prone to blemishes
and or acne)
